The Easiest Turmeric Latte Recipe

If you’re not a coffee drinker or if you're trying to cut down on caffeine, a turmeric latte (also known as golden milk) is one of the best healthy alternatives to coffee. Turmeric lattes are super easy and quick to prepare, and all you need is a stove top and whisk - no fancy barista machinery.

Herbal tea doesn't always hit the spot when you're craving a creamy caffeine-free hot drink, so this easy turmeric latte recipe has been my go-to for a coffee substitute with added anti-inflammatory benefits. Turmeric is a superfood that contains curcumin, a natural anti-inflammatory and powerful antioxidant that has a range of benefits to support long-term health, given inflammation is at the root of most diseases. The bioavailability of turmeric is increased when you combine it with healthy fats and black pepper, so this recipe contains coconut oil as a nourishing source of healthy fats and black pepper to help your body absorb the curcumin and reap the anti-inflammatory benefits of a turmeric latte.

This easy turmeric latte recipe also contains ginger, cinnamon and vanilla for added antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits. The combination of these superfoods with turmeric creates a spicy yet soothing recipe which you can enjoy in the morning or evening. Here's how to make a turmeric latte in 3 minutes:

Turmeric Latte Tips:

  • If you haven't tried a turmeric latte or golden milk before, start with a smaller amount of turmeric and build up the quantity as your taste buds adjust to the flavour, as the flavour can be quite strong if you're new to it!
  • If you're using fresh turmeric and ginger and want to make a smooth turmeric latte, strain the ingredients through a sieve after heating.
  • To create an extra frothy turmeric latte, pour all the ingredients into a blender and whiz until your desired frothiness is achieved.
  • You can also enjoy a turmeric latte cold - just like a smoothie. To make an iced turmeric latte, allow the mixture to cool and then serve over ice.
  • Turmeric can stain so be careful with clothing and bench tops. If things get messy, baking soda and vinegar work a treat for turmeric bench top stains.
